The SUPES library is a scientific, didactic and informational centre that operates in prior-ity directions development of physical culture and sport higher education from the Republic of Moldova, oriented to form an unique informational environment in the context of the European Educational System. It has the central role in the training of future specialists in the field and contributes to the continuous training of teaching staff of profile, offers quality services to its beneficiaries and provides access to multiple sources of information and knowledge.
The library staff focuses its activity on the following objectives:
-development and making topical the informational and documentation sources in sup-port of the university curriculum;
-intensifying the speciality scientific research activity;
-effectiveness of scientific, methodological and cultural activities;
-implementation of new educational technologies;
-open access and connection to the international standards activity of beneficiares;
-realization of traditional catalogues;
-inclusion of collections on the electronic support;
-creation of data base;
-implementation of ИРБИС-64 Soft;
-creation of Web page of the library;
-creation of SUPES institutional repository;
-development of bibliographic indexes and bibliographies;
-formation of the informational culture of the recipient via the optional course ”Funda-mentals of informational culture”;
-creation of the authority’s file of SUPES teaching staff.
The available human potential of the library.
At present, at the library work 7 persons, 6 of them have specialized higher education, one has secondary school education.
Toma Victoria, head of the library;
Cotoman Tamara, chief of Acquisition Service. Evidence and processing of collections, high degree of qualification;
Vătămanu Maria, head of Informational Assistance, high degree of qualification;
Timofti Silvia, head of Service Public Relations, grade I of qualification;
Cotoman Ludmila, the main librarian, grade II of qualification;
Bogdan Angela, librarian;
Broslavschi Olesea, librarian.
The library’s collection includes: monographs, books, scientific works, methodical elab-orations, brochures, serials, publications, periodicals, courses, literature in various areas: physical education and sport, sports medicine and physiotherapy, pedagogy, psychology, law, history, politics, economics, philosophy, fiction etc.
At present, the general fund of the library is about 77460 exemplaries, the basic collec-tion comprising: scientific literature - 35 178 copies; didactic literature - 32870 copies; fiction - 2890 copies; theses and self-references - 171/427; periodicals: newspapers —115; journals —5368; audiovisual documents —66; literature in Romanian language - 33 748 copies; in national minorities languages - 39 310; in modern languages - 1969 copies. The heritage of the library includes multiple audiovisual and electronic documents (CDs, tapes, microfilms, slides etc.).
The library collection also includes works by SUPES teachers. Only in the last five years there have been submitted 716 exemplaries.
Systematically, the library’s collection is completed by numerous acquisitions, donations, international exchange with institutions from Romania, the UK, Korea, Ukraine, Belarus and Russian Federation etc.
The library has over 4580 readers, students and SUPES workers that borrow at home and consult in the reading room over 13628 documents, the number of visitors exceeding the number of 12581.
